WHY ANOTHER TAX?
The money assessed (very little per member) is
guaranteed to come right back into our
community, not downtown or across town where
our community sees no tangible benefit from it. It
is managed strictly and can only be used for local
business enhancement purposes.

WHAT IS THE B.I.D.?
The Chatsworth Business Improvement District
(the “B.I.D.”) is a nonprofit municipal corporation
given the authority by local stakeholders in the
primary Chatsworth business corridor to assess
themselves in relatively small amounts for local
business enhancement projects. Its operations
are run by a community-elected Board of
Directors and an Advisory Board appointed by
the local Council office and is renewable yearly at
the discretion of the Los Angeles City Council.

WHAT IS THE AREA COVERED?
The Chatsworth B.I.D. area covers Devonshire
Street from Topanga Canyon Blvd. at the West to
Mason Avenue, including all four shopping
centers at the corners of Mason and Devonshire.
All businesses on either side of Devonshire are
included from Mason Ave. to Topanga Blvd.,

WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS ENHANCEMNTS HAS THE B.I.D. ALREADY DONE FOR US?
• Cleaned up public planted areas and beautified
them
• Planted and maintained 58 trees on the Devonshire corridor so
far
• Decorated all the tree wells along Devonshire
• Established a highly effective B.I.D. “business watch” and
security patrol program
• Created numerous advertising opportunities for B.I.D. members,
mostly for free
• Published a regular newsletter of B.I.D. activities to keep
members up-to-date
• Created, maintained and serviced westernthemed benches and
garbage receptacles
along the B.I.D. corridor
• Created and installed signature “Welcome to Chatsworth”
signage along the corridor
• Created highly-successful “Summerfest” community fair
• Created and updated website
• Created free Daily News member ad page

Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce. The Councilman’s

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN IT?
Sure. If you have a
business in the B.I.D.
corridor, you’re automatically a member.
Elections to the Board are annual and open to
all members. All the Board meetings are open
and public and take place in the train station
community conference room in the B.I.D./
Chamber office. You are always welcome for
public comment or just to sit and observe.
You’ll find that your ideas will be welcome
and actively solicited. Keeping the B.I.D. vital
and responsive is the Board’s mission !
